Known for its fresh, flavorful dishes and welcoming service, this dining gem is a must-visit for both locals and tourists seeking a true taste of Greece.

As you step inside, the warm ambiance immediately draws you in. The restaurant’s rustic charm, with its wooden tables and traditional decor, creates the perfect setting for a relaxed yet refined dining experience. Whether you're enjoying a casual meal with friends or celebrating a special occasion, Maiandros provides an inviting environment where great food takes center stage.

The menu at Maiandros offers a wide array of classic Greek dishes, each crafted with care and fresh, locally sourced ingredients. A standout is their moussaka, a savory and hearty casserole made with layers of eggplant, minced meat, and béchamel sauce. The flavor is rich and comforting, a true representation of Greek home-cooked meals. Another crowd favorite is the grilled lamb chops, perfectly seasoned and cooked to perfection, served alongside roasted vegetables that balance the meat’s richness with a hint of sweetness.

For those who enjoy seafood, the restaurant’s grilled octopus is a showstopper. Tender and smoky, it’s served with a simple drizzle of olive oil and a squeeze of lemon, allowing the natural flavors of the octopus to shine. If you’re in the mood for something lighter, the Greek salad with its crisp cucumbers, ripe tomatoes, olives, and feta is an ideal choice, offering a refreshing contrast to the more indulgent dishes.

What sets Maiandros apart from other restaurants in the area is its attention to detail and commitment to high-quality ingredients. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly, always eager to offer recommendations based on your tastes. You can also pair your meal with a selection from their impressive wine list, featuring local Greek wines that complement the bold flavors of the cuisine.

Another aspect worth noting is the dessert menu. A visit to Maiandros wouldn’t be complete without trying their classic baklava. This decadent dessert, with its layers of flaky pastry, honey, and nuts, provides the perfect sweet ending to your meal. For those with a more adventurous palate, the loukoumades-Greek honey donuts-are a delightful treat, crisp on the outside and soft on the inside, drizzled with syrup and sprinkled with cinnamon.

  • It’s an okay place, however, it’s definitely not above 4* rating restaurant. Seems overall Greek restaurants have a higher rating similar to Turkey :) Service was good. Everything was quite fast at lunch but the place was more than half empty.

  • We called to make a reservation 2 hours before and asked to be seated on the rooftop balcony- it didn't disappoint, view was amazing.... beautiful sunset and of course the Acropolis. Our waiter was super funnt and helpful, food was amazing-olive paste dip, the zucchini fries were the best!!

  • Maiandros is a great place to try authentic Greek dishes. Our orders arrived very quickly, and the staff were friendly and attentive. The zucchini dish was honestly the best I’ve ever had absolutely delicious! Prices are quite reasonable too. Highly recommended for both the quality of food and the warm service.

  • First time: My wife, son (12y) and I had a great dinner, with a friendly and very witty head waiter or owner (?). The food was prepared nicely, quick and really tasteful. The big surprise was a sausage dish prepared in wine and pepper, it was so good! Can't wait to come again and be surprised by the head waiter. Second time eating there, four days later: Mikael, I hope I got the spelling right, choose the dishes for me. Of course the sausage in wine had to be included. He surprised me with gorgeous fetta baked in the oven. It was soooo lovely. And the second surprise dish was a great chicken in a creamy sauce dish. All of it was verry, verry tasty. My son took the grilled sausage again and declared it his favorite dish of the whole holiday. My sausage dish topped my own top 5. My wife had a very tender, tasty and moist lamb in paper. Can't remember the name, but it was very good as well. A splendid way to end our Athens adventure. Thank you very much Mikael for two unforgettable diner experiences. We will remember this with a warm hart (and salivating mouths). Fortunately I did not forget to take pictures this time!

  • This is near the famous Monasteraki area of Athens so there is no shortage of people, tourists, pigeons, and cats. Considering so many options for good Greek food in Athens, The Birthplace of Bureaucracy, this restaurant was packed with people when many others were not. I noticed this and said as we passed by, “ this place must be good.” They catered to my 92 year old father as well with no issues to the slow movement of such an aged body, so I was thankful for that. Our lunch/dinner consisted of saganaki, fried halloumi, zucchini fritters, village salad, bread with olive paste, tender beef (kokkinisto)w potatoes, sardines, grape leaves. Everything was fresh and tasty and served w lemon. Vasili, the host, was so gracious, even asked my name (prob bc I spoke Greek w an accent) and accommodated my request to be away from the commotion, if possible. All in all, a pleasant way to satisfy huge appetites from walking all over the Acropolis, Plaka, and Monasteraki area. Highly recommend.

  • We had a very good dining experience at this restaurant. We came in at 10 PM and sat on the first floor, so there were no view or performances, which was not a problem because the quality of food is a priority. The waiters were very nice and provided great recommendations. To start the meal, they gave us some free breadsticks with this amazing olive spread, and free chocolate mousse for desert at the end. We really enjoyed the beef stifado as the meat was tender and the baby onions were cooked to perfection!

  • We had a lovely meal at Maiandros. The atmosphere is warm and inviting — rustic stone walls, cozy lighting, and lively outdoor seating. The food was fresh and flavorful, especially the gyros with tender meat, crispy potatoes, and various pastas. Service was prompt and friendly, making the experience smooth and enjoyable. A perfect spot to enjoy authentic Greek flavors in a charming setting!
